POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Specialist collaborates with product specialists, merchants, sourcing team, and vendors/factories to manage a quality system that instills ownership of the product from the beginning through to when it reaches our customers. This position is responsible for developing strategies and techniques to ensure apparel quality-assurance standards and procedures are met. The quality assurance specialist manages the testing protocols, factory audit process, vendor quality evaluations, corrective actions, and provides feedback to product development teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage the QA policy / procedures for operation and control
Serve as key contact for brands product performance, product testing related issues and requests pertaining to imported and/or BPS brand merchandise.
Direct overseas 3rd party QA factory audit requirements and evaluation parameters.
Serve as key contact for reasonable testing and QA factory audit requirements.
Initiate swift resolution with regard to policy / procedure findings by working closely with product development, merchant teams, sourcing, and vendors.
Facilitate 3rd party testing labs' product performance testing and ensures harmonization of 3rd party testing protocols.
Manage processes and follow-up with 3rd party testing labs' product performance testing
Develop product performance and testing functions for Bass Pro Shops brands’ product maintaining brands continuity and specifications
Interface with compliance department to ensure that all product safety requirements are met for importation of products.
Initiate quality product reviews to update protocols, standards, or procedures to prevent future quality issues
Facilitate testing of designated national brand merchandise to conduct product benchmarking competitive analysis
Maintain database, reports, filing, standards and procedures.
Perform training in all aspects of quality management systems

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in business or relevant field highly preferred
Minimum of 5 years experience as a QA/QC, Spec Technician, or Technical Design - must have apparel industry experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
Comprehensive understanding of woven and knit garment construction, fabric construction and properties
High level of knowledge towards quality assurance testing techniques and factory auditing and managing procedures
Working knowledge of test methods and other product performance testing requirements for apparel and footwear
Understanding of, ability to interpret and practical application of Federal requirements and industry practices to be compliant towards CPSC / CPSIA, and Health Canada for children and adult products
Ability to read and write, basic mathematical skills and comprehend instructions
Ability to adapt and make decisions quickly and correctly to become compliant towards mandates deemed applicable to Bass Pro Shops
Strong background and interaction with 3rd party testing facilities
Apparel and footwear material understanding, components, construction and basic manufacturing methods and techniques
Communication – effective listening, speaking and writing at all levels of the organization both internal and external
Proficiency in computer software such as: MS Office, Outlook, PLM systems

Regular computer work, walking, standing, lifting up to 50lbs, etc.

Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
