Job Title: Enterprise Functional Safety Director

Summary:

Responsibilities: Successful candidates will be experts in the application of system safety concepts and standards to modern engineered systems. A successful Enterprise Functional Safety Director:

• Drives Functional Safety Activities and Projects related to Autonomy, Connectivity and Electrification (ACE)
• Is responsible for addressing how the systems we design maintain safe functionality by design, taking into consideration potential faults, malfunctions, and complex system-level interactions.
• Interprets and applies functional safety standards and principles to ensure compliance and consistency across Brunswick solutions.
• Addresses the functional safety of both the hardware and software components of the system.
• Collaborates with cross-divisional and enterprise engineering teams to develop solutions to meet functional safety goals
• Becomes familiar with and supports the product safety and compliance deliverables of the Product Delivery Process (HPPD) for ACE products and systems.
• Excels at cross-functional and cross-division communications. Works with Division teams to expand the safety culture at Brunswick to address ACE-related requirements.

Required skills/experiences

• 10+ more years of professional engineering experience applying functional safety in automotive or an off-road vehicle application in ACE
• Expertise with safety analysis techniques such as FMEA, FTA, and FMEDA
• Experience performing electronic hardware, software, or system design, testing and/or analysis work through practical experience
• Expertise in safety requirement authorship such as functional safety requirements, technical safety requirements, and software safety requirements
• Hands-on experience in software design patterns and principles of scalable software
• Experience with embedded software and/or automotive software ecosystems and frameworks
• Experience in systems engineering practices and processes
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
• Strong Systems Engineering fundamentals and knowledge of modern systems engineering techniques, tools and processes.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate complex engineering issues to a diverse team

Desired skills/experiences

• ACE product design or test experience in marine or an adjacent industry vertical
• Experience with systems engineering practices and methodologies
• Experience with functional safety standards (like ISO 25119, ISO 19014, UL4600, or ISO 26262)
• Experience reading and interpreting standards & regulations
• Experience working in a cross functional team environment
• Experience with autonomous software middleware

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Computer, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
