Job Description
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
Support of the Hunt Shoot Division by preparing journal entries, preparing account reconciliations and financial analysis; prepare reporting for royalty accruals and payments, provide assistance with financial audits and responsible for compliance and revision of SOX controls; instrumental in the Month End closing schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(Experience, education, licenses, certifications, and general knowledge, skills and abilities.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 15 or more years of experience with financial reporting and general accounting
- 4 plus years of experience in SOX auditing or related compliance. Demonstrate strong understanding of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting and system environments
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio for flowcharting, and other business software to prepare reports, memos, summaries, and analyses. Experience with ERP solutions such as Micro Soft AX or NetSuite or SAP.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- Excellent presentation skills
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(Fundamental duties necessary to achieve the objective of the position)
Key player in maintaining a high-quality SOX compliance program. Provide subject matter expertise on SOX compliance, working cross functionally to consult with business control owners to design compliant and efficient solutions.
Ensuring revenue is recognized in accordance with US GAAP. Continuously review company’s compliance with ASC 606 requirements.
Complete timely processing of accounting entries and month-end account support- Prepare and post journal entries, including the maintenance of standard journal entries.
- Meet monthly closing calendar deadlines and communicate any issues on a timely basis.
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations
- Assist with annual external audit including preparing assigned schedules for the annual audit and interim procedures.
- Research and resolve accounting errors and discrepancies.
- Coordinate with other departments to obtain information and/or to record and correct transactions.
- Provide analysis for variances in assigned balance sheet and expense accounts.
Revise SOX Controls for implementation of NetSuite.
Preparing monthly accruals and processing of payments for royalties.
Providing ad-hoc financial analysis to group management; supporting internal and external P&L and balance sheets audits
Improve processes and standardization initiatives within the Finance organization

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

Physical Requirements: A majority of work spent sitting operating computer and preparing and revising handwritten documents. Some standing and movement to fax, copy and file and some handling of files. Lifting and moving weights of up to 10 pounds. Extensive verbal and written communication with other employees.
Mental Requirements: Reading comprehension to understand technical releases, memos, spreadsheets, and accounting principles. Strong working knowledge of basic mathematical concepts. Strong analytical and problem solving skills required to make comparisons/computations, to interpret trend differences, and to find and resolve inconsistencies in data. Work initiation and strict attention to detail for all duties. Awareness of time to meet deadlines. Flexibility to handle multiple concurrent tasks and frequent interruptions. Ability to handle confidential payroll, cost, and profitability data.
Equipment Used: Personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator and telephone.
Working Environment: Most time is spent in an office environment.
