Job Description

The Finance Intern will be responsible for supporting the objectives of the Vista Outdoor Finance organization. This will be a unique opportunity for someone looking to gain experience within an industry corporate finance team. They will have the opportunity to work with and assist in the execution of special projects for external financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, treasury and internal audit teams. This would be an ideal opportunity for someone that is in an accounting or finance degree but not yet sure what types of roles they are looking for out of college.

The intern will also enhance their systems knowledge with the development and execution of reporting related projects such as new report development, template creation and data management to meet the company’s growing reporting and compliance needs.

Qualifications

• Finance, Accounting, or related major.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of accounting, auditing and/or financial analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly motivated with a desire to learn.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Power Point
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
• Able to commit to a schedule and work 40 hours weekly.
• Possibility of continuing with role into the school year, with a reduced/flexible work schedule.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide general accounting and finance support.
• Assist with special projects across a variety of finance departments including External Reporting, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Internal Audit.
  • Assist with statistical analysis and financial modeling.
  • Analyze financial records and other supporting documentation.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly financial analysis packets for management.
  • Work with SOX internal control updates & process flow documentation.
  • Assist in month-end close and quarterly financial reporting.
  • Aid in gathering information to define account descriptions.
  • Assist with updating accounting policies.

• Present data-driven recommendations to the finance team
• Establish effective relationships with Finance personnel.
• Manage individual workload and deliver to agreed-upon project milestones.
• Acquire an understanding of company policies and procedures.
