The University of Denver (DU) is a premier private R1 research university located in Denver, Colorado. Founded in 1864 as the Colorado Seminary, it is the oldest independent private institution of higher education in the Rocky Mountain region. 

DU also operates the 720-acre James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus adjacent to the Roosevelt National Forest, which provides students with outdoor leadership, wellness, and adventure experiences at no additional cost.
