POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cafe Cook prepares food items to be served in the Clearwater Café, a Cafeteria serving employees at Bass Pro Shops Corporate Headquarters in Springfield, MO. This individual will prep food to be used in recipes or served on the salad bar, prepare food to be served during breakfast and lunch, and serve food during the lunch meal period. This will all be done while ensuring adherence to food safety principles and regulations. The cafe cook works in all areas of the kitchen including the grill, deli sandwiches counter, pizza/pasta station, and salad area. This role requires flexibility, multitasking, and an attitude for excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Prepares and cooks various items according to the weekly menu.
Cleans, cuts, and prepares fruits and vegetables to be used in recipes and for the salad bar.
Completes tasks outlined by daily prep list and the Chef’s instructions.
Apportions and serves food to customers (employees & guests) in a safe manner.
Ensures the cleanliness and organization of equipment and work area by routinely cleaning and inspecting throughout shift.
Complies with FDA and local food safety guidelines.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Years of experience: 2+ years of cooking experience, preferably in a restaurant or cafeteria setting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Basic understanding of or ability to learn sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
Basic understanding of or ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
Must be able to work quickly and efficiently.
Must be able to work well as part of a team.
Must be able to work well under pressure.
Ability to maintain personal cleanliness.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regular walking, standing, and lifting.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to lift, squat, bend, and be on your feet for extended periods of time.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
