POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technical Designer supports the development of apparel products by ensuring accurate fit, construction, and specifications from concept through production. This role works closely with design, product development, and merchandising teams to translate design intent into production-ready garments. With a solid understanding of garment construction and market needs, the Technical Designer contributes to tech pack creation, fittings, and problem-solving across brands and categories.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Lead the technical development of assigned apparel styles from concept through production, ensuring fit, construction, and quality align with brand standards and consumer needs.
Collaborate closely with Design, Product Developers, and Merchandising teams to execute seasonal strategies and deliver innovative, functional products.
Create and manage detailed tech packs, including specifications, construction methods, and fit standards, ensuring accuracy and consistency across categories.
Conduct and lead fit sessions using dress forms and live models, providing clear feedback and direction to vendors and cross-functional teams.
Analyze prototype and fit samples for measurement, construction, and quality, resolving technical issues related to fit, fabric, grading, and production cost.
Maintain consistency in fit and construction across vendors and product categories, leveraging fit blocks and digital tools (2D/3D) where applicable.
Communicate effectively with overseas offices and vendors to ensure timely development and production, while proactively identifying and resolving potential challenges.
Support product testing and wearer trials to validate fit, performance, and durability.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Design, Technical Design, or relevant field.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in apparel technical design, with knowledge in patternmaking, garment construction, or grading.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Strong understanding of apparel development, garment construction and tech pack creation.
Experience in key industry software, including Microsoft OLice, Adobe Creative Suite, PLM systems, and digital patternmaking tools; experience with 3D design software like CLO or Browzwear is a plus.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Communicates effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors, confidently leading fit sessions and providing clear, actionable feedback to ensure alignment on technical specifications and garment execution.
Experienced in mentoring and guiding team members, with the ability to lead technical discussions and drive strategic initiatives.
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving fit, quality, and production challenges.
Adaptable and collaborative, thrives in fast-paced environments and contributes to a positive, inclusive team culture.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Up to 10% domestic and/or international.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly does computer work and sits.
Occasionally walks, stands, and lifts up to 50 lbs.
