POSITION SUMMARY (Objective/Purpose of Position): The Staff Accountant – Inventory Accounting position is responsible for assisting with the accurate and timely recording of inventory accounting transactions for the Company’s Retail division. This position also works to understand and validate the flow of inventory data among various software applications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Perform weekly and monthly procedures to ensure the timely and accurate closing of the inventory sub-ledgers, including reconciliations, review of exception reporting and analysis of financial statement components. 25%
· Assist with the coordination of physical inventory counts, including providing retail location and distribution staff with operational support, recording inventory counts to the inventory sub-ledger and performing shrink analysis by location and department. 25%
· Design and implement data reconciliations between systems to use as controls to ensure the proper accounting of inventory transactions. 15%
· Prepare, analyze and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries, including monthly accruals. 15%
· Assist with the development of well-defined and detailed reporting of gross margin and inventory balances for use in validating results, preparing variance explanations and conducting trend analyses. 10%
· Participate in broader company-wide projects and identify impacts to the Company’s accounting for inventory transactions. 10%

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: 2+ years in accounting / finance preferred
