POSITION SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Manager leads the direct materials procurement function for White River Marine Group’s (WRMG) operations network that includes aluminum, fiberglass, and pontoon boats production as well as trailer, kayak, and component manufacturing. This leader’s mission is to ensure efficient production operations through consistent material availability while maintaining balanced inventory positions.
This role is responsible for managing a team of purchasing agents while driving supplier performance, material availability, process standardization and continuous improvement efforts. Works cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Sourcing, Scheduling, Engineering, Finance, and Logistics teams to support production schedules, optimize inventory investment, mitigate supply risk, and achieve operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Lead, coach, develop purchasing agents to achieve company objectives
Ensure uninterrupted material flow to support production schedules while minimizing on hand inventory, and excess and obsolete materials
Manage purchasing agent workloads, priorities and performance to ensure timely execution of purchasing activities
Escalate and drive resolution of material shortages, supplier delivery issues, logistics delays, and production constraints through cross-functional collaboration
Measure and improve key performance indicators: supplier on-time delivery, inventory levels & turns, shortages, schedule attainment, freight costs
Partner with Sourcing to address supplier performance, capacity constraints, and supply continuity risks
Maintain standardized purchasing processes, procedures and controls
Utilize MRP system to manage purchasing requirements, forecast, inventory, and supplier deliveries
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Sourcing, Engineering in support of new product introductions, product or volume changes
Support logistics partners as required
Prepare and present purchasing performance metrics, inventory trends, supply risk assessments

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or Business
Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in ENTER DETAILS or related field (if applicable)
