DENVER — Outdoor Sportsman Group (OSG) Publishing announced it has hired Mark Demko as associate editor of Petersen’s Bowhunting. Demko, a lifelong bowhunter and award-winning outdoor writer, will play a key role in creating content across “The Modern Bowhunting Authority’s” print, digital and social media platforms while working from OSG’s Harrisburg, PA office. The announcement was made today by Petersen’s Bowhunting Editor Christian Berg.
With more than two decades of outdoor writing experience, Demko is a former Bowhunting contributor whose byline also has appeared in titles that include: Petersen’s Hunting, In-Fisherman, Sports Afield and Outdoor Life. Demko also has served as a longtime outdoors columnist for multiple regional publications in his home state of Pennsylvania — work that has earned him multiple awards from both the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association and Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers. In addition, Demko brings more than three decades of bowhunting experience to the table, having taken a variety of big-game species across North America.
“Joining Petersen’s Bowhunting is an incredible opportunity and a dream come true,” Demko said. “For me, archery is a passion and a way of life, with few things as exciting as hunting seasons. I look forward to continuing and expanding Bowhunting’s rich tradition of providing information and insights to hardcore bowhunters while also sharing the latest equipment, gear and archery innovations to help give them an edge in the field.”
Prior to joining Outdoor Sportsman Group, Demko worked full-time for two decades in marketing and communications for ArtsQuest, a Bethlehem, Pennsylvania-based nonprofit that presents Musikfest, the nation’s largest, free-admission music festival, and 11 other festivals. In addition to his passions for archery, bowhunting and the outdoors, Demko is a music aficionado whose prior role afforded him opportunities to interview legendary performers as Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues, Jason Aldean and members of Styx, the Allman Brothers and Duran Duran.
“As a fellow Pennsylvanian, I have known Mark and been a fan of his work for quite some time,” Berg said. “I am thrilled to welcome him to the team and feel confident his proven blend of outdoor and media skills will help push our market-leading content to an even higher level.”
