Over the past 10 weeks, 41 interns from 20 states partnered with our team to produce projects, conduct research and gain valuable experience as they helped us inspire others to get outdoors.
The Bass Pro Shops summer internship program creates opportunities for students to gain experience and develop leadership skills, while networking and setting themselves up for future success as professionals in their chosen fields.
Here are a few of the 2021 Bass Pro Shops summer interns, reflecting on their experiences.
Key responsibilities: Assisting with a social media campaign and learning about SEO strategies for boat dealers
“After only four days in the office as a new intern, I was chosen to be sent for a week to the Bassmaster Classic, a tournament in Fort Worth, Texas. I learned fast that this tournament was the ‘Super Bowl’ of bass fishing, and Bass Pro Shops was a valued vendor at the event. I was so impressed by all the demos, displays, and vendors. I engaged in personal and business conversations, which were at a whole new level to me. I enjoyed this opportunity to experience both in-office work duties and out-of-office events.”
Key responsibilities: Booking orders for spring 2022 styles and presenting new style concepts that use sustainable materials
“My favorite part of my internship was working cross-functionally with departments on sustainability initiatives. I was able to meet so many people and was exposed to various sides of the business.”
Key responsibilities: Conducting daily audits and reconciliations
“My favorite part of the internships were the connections and friendships I built. Being able to explore the outdoors with other interns was just as rewarding.”
Key responsibilities: Updating outdated job descriptions and assisting with other HR projects related to onboarding and recruiting
“I was truly amazed by the willingness of others to help me learn and offer their career insight and advice. The HR team specifically was so welcoming and truly made me feel excited to come to work each day.”
Key responsibilities: Implementing a safety program for hot work areas and assisting with corrective safety actions
“I enjoyed getting the opportunity to make changes at the plant and seeing them come to fruition, and working with our Outfitters by just ensuring their health and safety.”
Key responsibilities: Helping with robotic programming and coordinating projects for the improvement of robotic cells
“My favorite part of the internship was definitely the people. I have met so many nice, funny people during my time here.”
